The School’s Mission Statement


The mission was formulated in line with the mission of the Faculty of Economics and Unissula. Unissula has a great goal to raise Khaira Ummah generation (Eng. Best generation). Whereas the Faculty of Economics has a great mission to become a prominent school in raising generation of Islamic civilization builders through the transformative education in accounting and management. The mission of faculty and university represents that education implemented to students is expected to equip students to be the best role models who mastered science both worldly and religiously. In other words, students are expected to become professionals who have noble character and moral.

Based on the factors above, the UPM formulated its mission, that is to create Islamic management professionals through blended based learning. Islamic management professionals are professional workforce who have skills, knowledge, attitude in the field of business management based on Islamic values, ​​and have digital capabilities and global worldview to achieve Maqasid Sharia (the benefit of the world and hereafter). In other words, Islamic management professionals focus on soft competence in the form of character based on Islamic values ​​and hard competence in the form of digital intelligence and global worldview.

The Islamic values ​​are in the form of 5 values of Faculty of Economics, which are Accountability, Cooperation, Fairness, Leadership, and Innovative.

Accountability means carrying out responsibilities properly based on faith in God and care for the environment. The application of accountability aims to make students responsible for their actions and attitudes both in the school and the community.

Cooperation means carrying out activities by helping, giving, and respecting each other to achieve common goals. Cooperation trains students to be able to work together, give advice, receive input for self-evaluation, can understand and appreciate others to form professionalism in work and the community.

Fairness means being able to put everything proportionally according to the principle of truth. In every action and decision making, students can place and decide on things proportionally. This is to form the professionalism of students both in the work environment and the community.

Leadership means directing oneself and others with exemplary and visionary attitudes. Equipping students with leadership traits aims to lead and be a role model for goodness in their surroundings.

Innovative means to make creative updates for the benefit. Innovative equips students in taking opportunities and solving problems in the work environment and the surrounding.

The 5 Islamic values become a filter to minimize crime and indifferent attitude to the surrounding. In the business and work environment, too many frauds have been encountered. This is reflected in corruption and exploitation that damage the environment. Thus, it is necessary to strengthen the Islamic values ​​possessed by management professionals who are not only oriented on financial profit but also to non-financial profit in the form of actions that provide meaning and benefit together. By equipping a strong soft competence, graduates can become Islamic management professionals.

 

The School’s Strategies for Quality Improvement

  1. Develop a curriculum based on Islamic values ​​and align with the development of Revolution industry 4.0.
  2. Establish and improve research collaboration with educational institutions, governments, and local and global industries that have Islamic based values.
  3. Improve digital intelligence and English skill ​​for lecturers and students.
  4. Optimize the Islamic study center.
  5. Encourage and facilitate lecturers and students to always improve their competence and certification in the field of management science.
